Adopted!

Momma Moxie, now named Roxy, has been adopted! She did such a wonderful job with the #moxie7 and we are so excited she found such a wonderful family! She is the first dog for her human brothers and we know they will create many wonderful memories together. Her new family tells us:
"I think it is safe to say that Roxy is adapting to her new home quite well. She is such a love. She has been great with the kids and is social with other dogs as well."

Happy tails Roxy! <3
Special adoptions deserve a special post. Missy and Mick, the last two of the Moxie 7 to get adopted have moved to Colorado!

"Just like the saying goes, “it was love at first sight” for us with the #Moxie7. As advocates for shelters and rescue organizations across the country, it didn’t take long for myself and Jamie to become obsessed with Missy and Mick, now Marley and Winston. Although several states away and many obstacles to overcome to adopt, we worked closely with the TRD team to get these two siblings from California to Colorado. We knew it was out of the ordinary for the rescue but we wanted the opportunity for these siblings to stay together and live the Colorado-life with our families and pups! Marley and Winston are already signed up for puppy socials and puppy training together, and will be blazing the trails of Colorado on a regular basis. As loyal fans and friends of The Rescued Dog, we promise to send lots of updates so everyone can watch these pups grow up together with their new furever families!"
Is there anything cuter than a girl and her puppy?
Amadeo is adopted! His new name is Boots and his family is head over heels in love with him, and we can see why!
Happy tails Boots! Keep in touch!
Happy Tails Mango!

Mango was rescued with her two sisters who were adopted quickly. We have no idea why it took Mango longer, but we are happy to say she now has a forever home! Special thanks to Mango's foster Mom who brought her to numerous adoption events and took great care of her after her sisters were adopted. Have a great life Mango! Keep in touch!
Moxie puppy Mara is adopted! Her new family tells us:

"Everything is wonderful. She is such a sweet loving little pup. She wants to be right near you wherever you are. Velcro dog for sure! But still loves to play and explore. My kids are wonderful with her, and she is with them also! My dog is getting along with her also. Even gets along with our chickens! We couldn't be more in love with her. She only had one accident and we already have taught her to sit!!! She is perfect! We named her Mia! Miss Mia May. ❤️hardest part is keeping her calm from the spay, but she is in the most loving family. Thank you!"

Sounds like a perfect match! Keep in touch Mia, we would love to see you grow up!

We are so excited to announce Autumn is adopted! Her adopter was fearless when it came to taking on all of Autumn's medical needs. She could not wait to become Autumn's Mom! Congrats!!

We have to take a moment to thank Autumn's foster family who stood by her through medical issue after medical issue. Please read their story here:
https://therescueddog.org/2015/volunteer-spotlight/

It took a village to save Autumn from living in a backyard 24/7, to conquer her medical issues and to find her a forever home. Thank you to ALL involved in her story! Happy tails!

We will miss you Calvin! The dog with the longest eyelashes we have ever seen has found his family! They have already checked in and tell us:

"We are amazed at just how quickly he has become a family member. Slept on his new bed beside ours all night long. Already been hiking with us today at Lake Hodge's and had a couple of good walks yesterday around the neighborhood. He is a quick learner on the leash and on our property he is off leash but remains close to us by choice.
Fantastic car rider and we left him unattended for one hour today with free run of the home and all he did was sleep!"

Congrats to all!
Happy Tails Jake!
"We are so happy. He integrated so beautifully, and acts like he has been a part of our family for years. The whole family has met him, young and old, and he has been the perfect gentleman. We can't believe how lucky we are to have him. We are spoiling him like crazy and getting nothing but love from him in return. We are so grateful to all of you! Thanks for everything."

We would also like to thank Norman's foster Mom. He was her first foster and she did an amazing job. We know how hard it is to give up the first one. Thank you!
It's Bella's turn to get adopted! Our very popular girl has found a forever home and we couldn't be happier for her.

We would also like to thank Bella's foster family! Bella was their first foster and they did a fantastic job. We know how hard it is to see your first foster dog move onto their forever family. Thank you for fostering!

Kreacher got the best gift of all for Christmas, he got his forever home and awesome adopters!!

Kreacher's people have already checked in and they say...

"We have only had Kreacher (now Helix) for a few days. But he is already bringing so much laughter into our home. Yesterday for our first Christmas together we took Helix hiking and he had a blast. He could have kept at it all day if we let him. Here are photos from his first of many hikes to come."

Happy Tails Kreacher!!
This much cuteness should be illegal! Cash (Dolly's litter) and Rosemary (Sage's litter) were adopted together! Their new family tell us:

"Introducing Cash and Emmy Lou! Cash is 12.5 weeks and Emmy is 10 weeks! We adopted both of them from The Rescued Dog. We had such a great experience working with everyone at The Rescued Dog and highly recommend them if you're ever looking to adopt! We love our babies so much already!"

Happy Tails Cash and Emmy Lou!
Happy Tails to Basil! His new family tells us, "As I write, Basil now Murray is asleep on my lap, he is an absolute delight and we couldn't be happier. Sadie our other dog is getting to know him and we think they'll get on great. "

Congrats on your new family Murray! Keep in touch!
Melania, rescued from the Humane Society of Imperial County, has found her forever family! They tell us:

"We can’t even begin to tell you how perfect Melania is for us. Her mellow spirit was just what we needed at just the right time. She is our constant companion at work, soccer and baseball games. She brings a smile to everyone who meets her and is always paws up for belly rubs. She sleeps on the couch like a champ and is a great girl in the house alone when we leave. She is also a world class bed hog. I always tell her (we have deep discussions when I am working from home), the day she was found as a stray was the best day of her life, but we are really the lucky ones. It's onward and upward for Mel. "

We are so happy for all of you! Congrats
Look at those pugs!!!! Foxy has been adopted into the perfect pug-loving home! Her new parents are in love, they tell us:

"Please let Foxy's foster mom she is doing really well, and we love her. And we appreciate them fostering her so we could adopt her into our family! She is so sweet, the cats are just as big as her, and I think she doesn't know what they are! She likes them, she's not scared and doesn't chase them. She's a perfect lady! She has such a good appetite! Wow! She danced in circles for her breakfast this morning. We got her a sparkly ID tag that says Foxy, the most girly lavender collar with a bow... today I'm taking her to be fitted for a harness she won't be able to slip out of."

We would also like to thank Foxy's foster parents for fostering her until the perfect home could be found. We are always looking to add to our foster team. If you are interested please fill out a foster application at www.TheRescuedDog.org.

Happy Tails Foxy!
Mingus is adopted! We already have a great update to share! His family says:

"We did rename him, it's Bronco! And I know I have said this before to you but we are so so grateful- he has filled our hearts with such joy! We take him everywhere with us, he even went to the pumpkin patch over the weekend! We go on "flashlight" family walks at night, he goes running with me in the morning, we take him to parks and puppy play dates! He is the best snuggler too! I can't imagine our lives without him and he just completes our little family perfectly. We give him lots of love around here:)"

Happy Tails Bronco!
Lorenzo, now Murf, was a staff favorite at the Humane Society of Imperial County and now this little guy has scored himself a new forever family with a golden retriever sister and a few chickens.

His new family reports, "Murf did just great on his first night! Fits in like he's been here his whole life! He has been meeting some of his fur family members and feathered. He's a bit scared of the cat, but she was good with him, touching noses."

Congrats to all!
Hershey hit the jackpot with this fun couple! He was one of four siblings we rescued together. His sister Kisses will be at our adoption event/FREE microchip clinic today at Subaru El Cajon from 10am to 1 pm!
Wilson found his new parents! And they have already checked in to let us know he is doing great.

"Even though it's only been a day, we're already blown away by how smart, gentle and loving he is. We were able to get him to sit 4-5 times already using treats and he was able to figure out his bathroom spot as soon as we brought him to it...we're so thankful that you and the team chose us to be Wilson's forever family. And yes, we're keeping the name Wilson because it fits him perfectly. :)"

Happy Tails Wilson!
Adorable Stella has found her forever home! Her new family tells us:

Her new parents are already in love, as is her new Grandma who lives down the street. Happy Tails Walnut!
Miss Percy the Pug has been adopted! Percy came to us from Humane Society of Imperial County just 5 months old with a terrible case of mange. Her awesome fosters have spent the last 11 weeks nursing her back to health and preparing her for her forever family! While she will miss her foster brother Abu, we are sure her new pug brother will step in and make her transition a bit easier.

Happy Tails Percy
Didn't take us long to figure out these two pups belong together!! How cute are Cleo and her adorable sister?

Monte is adopted and his new sister is a TRD rescue dog too! Monte's new family adopted Nigiri a year and a half ago and was looking to add a pup to their home. They decided to foster to make sure to get a perfect fit. Well, the first time was a charm and they have decided Monte is the one!!

Congratulations to all!!
#twoisbetterthanone

There was a time we didn't think this photo would be possible because Bella was so sick we were afraid she wouldn't make it. Enter one rescue dedicated to their dogs no matter the cost, and one foster family who did the hard work of nursing this sweet puppy back to health!

It is with great pleasure we announce Bella is adopted!! The best part is her new family are close friends with one of our core volunteers so we will be able to watch Bella grow and thrive!

#HappyTails
We have another great adoption to report! Rex spent the first year and a half of his life as a backyard dog and came to us with horrible ear infections. He quickly learned how to be an inside dog and was dearly loved by his fosters. He is exactly what his new family had been looking for! He has a pug sister, a pool, and humans who adore him already!
#HappyTails Rex
Our adorable boxer Katie got adopted on Saturday too! This sweet girl was an owner surrender who came to us malnourished and with demodex mange. Her new family saw her picture online and instantly knew they had to add her to their family. She now has a boxer big brother and a two-legged cutie sister, but most importantly she has dog parents who know how to give a high energy boxer everything she needs to thrive!

Happy Tails Katie!
We have a great adoption story for your Monday. Our little Chicken Katsu has found the best of forever homes! Katsu came to us from Riverside County, a very high kill shelter. He was a timid little guy who thrived in his foster home with two canine brothers. We knew we needed just the right home for him to continue to grow.

Enter former adopters and TRD alum Yoda, now Frankie! They have been considering adding another pup to their family and stop by all our PetSmart adoption events to check out our adoptables. They met Katsu last weekend and knew their search was over. Who better to teach Katsu the ropes than a brother who has made the transition from scared shelter pup to a beloved family member!
#HappyTailstoAll
We had such a busy week at TRD we missed posting Taz' adoption!

He came from Humane Society of Imperial County with a nasty upper respiratory infection he needed antibiotics, nebulization, and tons of TLC. He is now healthy, happy and settling in nicely with his new family!
Kicking off St. Patrick's day with a puppy adoption!

6 month old Jasper came to us from Humane Society of Imperial County and was pretty sick with an upper respiratory infection. Now he is a happy healthy little guy ready to start his life with his forever people.
There aren't many situations where being a failure is a good thing, but foster failing is one of them!

Scout was such a good dog her foster couldn't bear to part with her! Today they stopped by our adoption event to make it official. Even better news, he will continue to foster other needy pups!

#happytails
We could not be happier about this adoption announcement. Crosley! has found his true forever home!

Originally adopted in 2014, Crosley! was returned in January when his family moved overseas. He is such a sweet, quirky, loving guy we knew his perfect home was out there.

Enter the perfect dog mom! She works at a doggy daycare and pet hotel so Crosley! will spend his days making doggie friends at work with his mom. We have already heard that it's going great and both could not be happier!
Some adoption choices are difficult and others seem like destiny. Sapphire's adoption for sure was meant to be.

When she came to us from Humane Society of Imperial County Sapphire had two small masses in her mammary glands. During her spay surgery we elected to remove her mammary chain and test the masses. One was benign and the other was found to be mammary adenocarcinoma. We knew with a cancer history finding Sapphire a home would be tough.

There were many applications but in the end it was a woman who could relate and wasn't scared off by a little cancer. You see Sapphire's new mom has beaten cancer herself! She completed her cancer treatments in November and is now cancer free!

We wish both of these BEAUTIFUL girls a long happy life together!
#CANCERSUCKS
Little Grace may not realize it in this photo, but she has found a great home with great dog parents! We don't understand how a 2 month old cutie ends up at Humane Society of Imperial County but we work hard to get her healthy, spayed and ready to be loved in a forever home.

Happy Tails Gracie!
Gunnar is the poster puppy for never giving pets as gifts. He was found loose on the streets by a volunteer a few days after Christmas, still wearing a bright new collar. He spent 5 days at Chula Vista Animal Control and as soon as he was available we made him a TRD pup.

Puppies take commitment and a ton of work, there are sleepless nights and months of training. Gunnar's new family has experience with bully breeds and are up for the challenge! They are excited to have him and we know this time he has found his forever home!
Alicia was less than a week old when she, her sister Liane and momma Gigi came to The Rescued Dog, now at 9 weeks old she has found her forever home!
#SPAYandNEUTER
#adoptNEVERshop
Our first adoption of 2016 is Frank! He came from a hoarding situation in Fallbrook and we were asked for help placing the last two puppies from a litter of nine. We think Frank is going to be very happy in his forever family.

#adoptNEVERshop
Seamus is adopted!! From the streets of El Centro to the good life in Escondido!

Happy tails!
Coulson is adopted!!

Coulson's family adopted Mia from us last year and when they were ready to add another fur baby to their home they knew right where to go.

They have already checked in and say Mia and Coulson, now Mace, are fast friends! No doubt he is going to have a great life! #adoptNEVERshop
A little sunset adoption...

Buddy is already smitten with his new sister. He was an owner surrender who needed orthopedic surgery on his leg and has spent the last 8 weeks on strict crate rest.

His family met him at Doggie Street Festival and have been patiently waiting for him to heal. They have some guidelines from his doctors so that Buddy will have the very best outcome from the surgery. If you'd like to donate to Buddy's happy tail...
Annie wants you all to know she is now part of a family!
Annie came to us from Hope For Paws after she was found in Compton with a very serious case of pyometra. Annie followed a woman home and would not leave her side! Annie doesn't have to worry anymore, she will now be loved and taken care of forever. Happy tails Annie!
In honor of the cooler weather we have a fall adoption for you.

May has found her person! She and her siblings were relinquished to the Humane Society of Imperial County, now she will get all the love and exercise she deserves in her forever home. Have a great life beautiful girl!
Henry is adopted!!!

It didn't take this little big guy very long to catch the eye of his new forever family. He came to Doggie Street Festival two weeks ago with the Humane Society of Imperial County, but didn't get adopted, so we found him a foster home and took him in.

We found out two things at his adoption; His new 4 legged cousin is TRD alum Charlie's Angel Alex, they are neighbors and will be forever playmates AND he likes pine cones!! Looks like he's going to have a great life.
FOSTER FAILURE! Sometimes you just can't help who you fall in love with!
The Rescued Dog is a completely foster based organization. We would be nothing without our network of fosters, even if they sometimes turn out to be failures!
We have been waiting four months for this event. Tera is ADOPTED!! Tera came to us as an owner surrender, something we normally don't do as our primary focus is to relieve over crowded shelters. Her story pulled at our heart strings and we took both Tera and her older sister Vali (beagle) into our rescue. Their owner was going through hard times and to top it off, had a last minute deployment to Hawaii.

Tera has not been an easy dog, to say the least. We knew from her previous owner that multiple people raised Tera while the owner was on deployment. Tera was not socialized properly and likely came under a hard hand. This was evident when Tera met new people - she did not want people touching her until she trusted them. On top of that, Tera is dog selective and has anxiety seeing other dogs on leash.

Placing a dog like Tera is not easy. We have been patient to find the right environment (minimal dog traffic) and adopters (understanding/advanced dog owners). Luckily for Tera, the perfect family came along! We have already received an update saying how well she is doing!

Have a wonderful life, Tera!
Otis is adopted!

He was an owner surrender from the Humane Society of Imperial County and he needed a family who could match his energy...That's exactly what he got! This first time dog owning family will give him all the walks/runs he needs as they all learn together the joys of adopting a rescue dog. We also hear his French lessons started today.

Avoir une belle vie Otis!!
Cheeto is adopted!!

He was taken in as a stray back in May by the Humane Society of Imperial County and spent two months in the shelter until we brought him to The Rescued Dog. His new owners have been looking for two months for the right dog, but had no luck. We think the universe had a plan all along...have a happy life Cheeto, now Bodhi!!
Rocco is adopted!!

Every Wednesday morning one of our dogs is featured on Darlene's Dog House of San Diego 6, The CW - XETV and last weeks that's all it took for Rocco's parents to fall in love! After a play date at a local dog park and a home check, we all knew it was meant to be. He came to us from the streets of Ensenada but he'll be roaming the grass lined streets of Spring Valley now. Have a great life Rocco!!
After 186 days with us Pepper Potts has found her forever home!

She came to us an abused, terrified 3 month old puppy with trust issues and we soon realized she needed more than a foster home could provide, so she was off to one of the best canine behaviorists in Southern California. She spent two months with Randy Davis learning how to function in a scary world and she has come so far! We found her a human who will take the time, have the patience needed, and follow the training plan. We are sure these blonde beauties will be very happy together!!
After weeks of fighting bacterial pneumonia the very popular Azucar has been adopted! There were several applicants eagerly waiting to meet her, but in the end it was the love of a dog for a boy that made the decision for us. (Boy not pictured)

From the streets of Mexico to America, her name will follow suit...Have a great life Sugar!
Sweet Ava is ready to grow into her big puppy paws. Her new momma says "The bigger the better!"
We would like to to extend a BIG THANKS to Ava's foster parents, Jim and Luanna Quirk. They have done a fantastic job with all of their foster dogs!
Princess Belle has been adopted! She will have 3 feline and 2 human siblings to keep her company!
There still 2 Princess Puppies awaiting their Prince Charming, check out our website therescueddog.org for details.
It's been 4 months since we rescued a very pregnant Tonks from Humane Society of Imperial County and we are very happy to announce she has found her forever home!!

When she came to us, she was malnourished and so sick with parasites we weren't sure she or the puppies would make it, but all seven of the Harry Potter puppies thrived and went to great homes. Now it's finally Tonks' turn to start her life!! Both of her foster families will miss her dearly but her new mom promises it keep us updated!!
It's Dylan's lucky day!! She was adopted today by a friend of one of our volunteers who saw a post about her on Facebook. She now has a human brother Tyler, a canine big sister Jessie, and three feline friends! It was love at first sight for Dylan and Jessie, they are going to have so much fun together. Happy tails Dylan!
If you are looking for a dog like Dylan (on the left) she has two identical sisters who are up for adoption! You can learn more about them on our website, therescueddog.org.
