Halston and his litter mates are adorable lab-beagle mixes who are looking for their forever homes after a rough start. The litter was born March 29, 2017. At 13 weeks old as of early July 2017, these guys are a great age to start life with their forever families. Their mom was a yellow lab and we believe dad was a beagle. The lab-beagle combo will make for some fun, smart, good-looking mid-sized dog! Halston seems very lab-like, and loves fetching. He also loves a good romp with his canine foster siblings. Halston is a typically mischievous puppy and will get to digging and other shenanigans if he's not supervised! He is is smart and excited to learn new things, though, and with a little training and attention he will get over the puppy stuff quickly. This good-looking guy has tons of potential and will do great in basic training with his new family. He already knows sit, name recall, and fetch and is ready to learn more! If you are interested in meeting Halston, please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.https://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/

Adorable Roxy came to TRD from the Humane Society of Imperial County. This little cutie is a fun and curious girl who loves a good pack walk with her foster family. She currently lives with kids, cats, and dogs, and gets along with everyone. She seems most happy and comfortable around other dogs around and we'd like for her to go to a home with a canine sibling. Her favorite game is playing keep away with stuffed animals. She also loves a good game of chase with her canine foster siblings. When it comes time to wind down, Roxy is a lover and would like nothing more than to curl up on the couch for a snuggle session with her people. Roxy has an adorable underbite, and all the charm needed to pull it off! Roxy is about 4 months old as of July 2017, which is a great age to start basic training. She already knows sit, and she is excited and willing to learn more. Roxy is crate trained and almost has her house training mastered. We think she will be a mid-sized dog (40-50) pounds when she is full grown. If you would like to meet Roxy, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.https://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/

Introducing Madonna, a brindle terrier mix who came to us from the Imperial County Shelter in May 2017. Like her name sake, Madonna has a fun and spunky personality that will definitely keep things interesting around your home. As of June 2017, Madonna weighs around 14 pounds which makes her an excellent fit in any living arrangement and a perfect size for the cuddle monster that she is. Madonna loves going for walks. She is calm on the leash and once a week her foster family takes her to Fiesta Island for an off-leash run--which happens to be Madonnas favorite place in San Diego! In just a few weeks with her foster family, Madonna has mastered a few commands like "come" and name recall. She can be a very well trained pup with more training from her forever family. She is already crate trained and sleeps in her crate all night. She is also house trained. She is still a little nervous when meeting new people, so her adopters will need to be patient with her as she transitions to a new home. However, with a little bit support and positive reinforcement, we are sure Madonna will get over these habits. Madonna loves to be petted and to play with her toys. She really likes other dogs her own size and is great with kids as well. She is a playful little thing but also enjoys just lounging on the couch and cuddling. All in all she is a very sweet dog and just needs a family that will love her and cherish her quirky personality forever. If you would like to meet Madonna, please fill out an adoption application and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.https://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/

Bruce Wayne earned his name for his awesome bat ears. This fun little guy is sporty and smart. His foster family reports that he is quickly learning the ways of the world, although it's obvious that up until now he's had very little in the way of training. Bruce is quickly picking up commands and will benefit from continued structure and training with his new forever family. Bruce still has some puppy-like tendencies, like a limited attention span while training and a chewing on things. As long as he is provided with proper (and sturdy) things to chew on, he's a happy boy. Bruce is also great on leash, and social with other dogs. He's crate trained and house trained. Bruce weighs in at 20 pounds, and as of June 2017 he is approximately 1 year old. If you would like to meet Bruce, please fill out an adoption application on the TRD website and an adoption coordinator will be in touch to schedule a meet and greet.https://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/

Ed, at 3 years old and 33 lbs, is a high-energy, fun loving border collie mix. Ed joined The Rescued Dog back in 2014, as a 6 month old pup, after being rescued with his family from a high-kill-shelter. He was soon adopted, but unfortunately returned 2 years later when his family separated. Ed is finally ready to find his FOREVER home.
Like most border collies, Ed has a high play-drive and is a focused retriever. His favorite three words are, "Find your ball!". The phrase will send Ed off on a scavenger hunt until he returns with a ball, or two to play with. Ed, being part border collie, would excel at agility, flyball, freestyle, or frisbee.
As expected, Ed is smart as a whip and loves to be rewarded with toys after training. Ed loves learning new tricks and one of his favorite tricks is jumping from the floor into his handler's arms!
One of his quirks is that he is entertained by flying insects and occasionally will catch a fly or two.
While he has lots of energy, Ed likes to stick close to his person and returns with just a call of his name. He is good with people when properly introduced and gets along well with the other household dogs. Ed is a VERY high energy pup, he will do best in an active home, with frequent trips to fiesta island, dog parks, or with a running/hiking partner. Just as he needs physical exercise, Ed needs mental stimulation too! Ed will do best in a home with breed knowledge, or with someone looking for a sport dog.
If you are looking for an active pup ready for a home of his own, please visit TRD's website and fill out an adoption application today to meet Ed! therescueddog.orghttps://therescueddog.org/2015/dog-adoption-application/
